Nicole Ali BSW, MSW Placement Student
Nicole Ali holds a HBSW from Lakehead University, and is currently completing her MSW at the University of Toronto, in the Health and Mental Health stream. Her experience spans across many areas including crisis intervention, anger management counselling, psychoeducational group program facilitation, service navigation in supportive housing, and providing equine assisted therapy to children, youth, and families.
Nicole has a passion for supporting and helping clients recognize their inner strengths, so that they can navigate life challenges and achieve their goals. As a racialized woman, Nicole employs a client centered, anti-oppressive, strengths based approach to create a safe space where clients feel validated and respected in their racial and cultural identity. She has received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Nonviolent Crisis Prevention (CPI), and Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT).
Nicole has always had a passion for horses from a young age and grew up horseback riding at various farms within the GTA. She aspires to empower and support others through the human-equine bond, and hopes to open her own private practice where she can provide equine assisted therapy to racialized individuals and other marginalized populations. When she is not in class or at the farm, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going to the gym, taking care of her plants, and Bollywood dancing.
