MSW Practicum Trainee

Dawn De Souza is a practicum student with Dr. Angela Fountain and Associates completing a clinical therapy placement as part of her Masters in Social Work with Dalhousie University. She is a Registered Social Worker with a Social Service Workers Honors Diploma from Seneca Polytechnic and a Bachelors in Social Work with a minor in psychology from Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University). Dawn has a background in the disability and homeless sectors where she has supported individuals and families through some of their hardest moments to arrive in a place of stability and comfort. 

Dawn works from a trauma informed, strength based, client centred approach that strives to meet people where they are and work towards their goals of healing and coping with challenges. Dawn has worked to support youth, adults and families with ADHD, ASD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and experiences of abuse and trauma to reach their goals and stabilize their circumstances. With training in CBT, strength- based and  narrative therapy approaches,

Dawn comes to this work from a place of compassion and understanding with the knowledge that each of us need a safe space to heal, learn and grow. 

In her free time, Dawn enjoys spending time with her amazing children and family, live music and being outdoors, especially near water.
