Julie Hernden

M.A. Counselling Psychology Student, RP (Qualifying)

Julie Hernden is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. She also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Ontario Tech University.

 

Julie provides counselling to children, adolescents, and parents for a range of emotional, behavioural, and social concerns. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, stress management, self-esteem, and confidence building. She also supports youth in developing social skills and works with neurodiverse clients, including those with ADHD and ASD.

 

Julie practices from a Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) framework to help clients identify and reframe unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour to improve their emotional well-being. In her work, Julie emphasizes collaboration and skill development by helping clients build awareness, learn coping tools, and gain confidence in managing challenges in daily life.

 

Julie’s approach is warm, supportive, and developmentally informed. She values the importance of a trusting therapeutic relationship and works closely with children, teens, and parents to create a space where clients feel understood, capable, and empowered to grow. Outside of her clinical work, Julie enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog, cooking and baking new recipes, and connecting with family and friends.
