Mila Popovic

M.A., Psychology Doctoral Resident

Mila Popovic is a Psychology Doctoral Resident completing her full-time psychology residency at Dr. Angela Fountain & Associates. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Lakehead University, where she is trained within the scientist-practitioner model. Mila previously earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Lakehead University, and her Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology and Neuroscience from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Mila joins our team with experience providing psychological assessment and intervention across hospital, community mental health, private practice, and educational settings. She has worked with children, adolescents, and adults presenting with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, emotion regulation difficulties, relational challenges, eating disorders, neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., ADHD and autism), and personality-related concerns. She also has experience conducting comprehensive psychoeducational and diagnostic assessments. At the practice, Mila provides evidence-based assessment and therapy services under the supervision of a registered psychologist.

Mila is committed to creating a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to work toward meaningful change. Her clinical work is grounded in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), while also informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mindfulness- and self-compassion-based perspectives. She values tailoring treatment to each individual's unique strengths, goals, and lived experiences and approaches her work with cultural humility, curiosity, and compassion.

Alongside her clinical work, Mila's research focuses on understanding the stigma associated with borderline personality disorder and nonsuicidal self-injury, with the goal of improving understanding, compassion, and access to care. Outside of psychology, she enjoys travelling, discovering new restaurants and cafés, staying active through pilates, and spending quality time with family and friends.
