Clinician Janet Amos

Janet Amos

Ph.D. (Supervised Practice)

Dr. Janet brings a playful and empathetic approach to therapy, helping children, teens, and families feel supported, understood, and empowered. She works with children and teens navigating emotional, behavioural, social, and learning challenges—such as anxiety, ADHD, autism, OCD, low mood, school difficulties, and more.

Dr. Janet believes in working collaboratively with parents to help families thrive. She offers individual therapy as well as parent consultations, using a mix of evidence-based approaches like cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), emotion-focused, and behavioural therapy. Every session is tailored to meet each child’s unique strengths and needs and she often incorporates arts and play-based activities where appropriate. Dr. Janet also provides comprehensive psychoeducational assessments to better understand a child’s learning profile and guide supports at home and school.

Dr. Janet’s path to becoming a psychologist has been shaped by over a decade of experience supporting children through roles in school, hospital, and clinic settings. She holds a Doctoral degree in School/Applied Child Psychology from McGill University and is a registered psychologist with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO).

Outside of her clinical work, Janet loves being outdoors—whether it's hiking, camping, snowboarding, or canoeing. She also enjoys yoga, painting, reading, and playing the ukulele.

"I believe that every child wants to do well, and with the right support, they can."
