Pony Tails
Therapy Group (Grades 4-6)

The Pony Tails Group is an in-person group therapy program that pairs clinically guided group work with equine-based activities. It is designed for children in Grades 4–6 who may benefit from experiential learning, confidence building, and relationship-focused support.

Through structured group therapy and hands on interactions with horses, children are supported in developing social skills, emotional awareness, and confidence in a motivating and engaging environment.

This program emphasizes safety, routine, and skill-building while using the unique therapeutic value of working with horses to support learning and connection.

Program Overview

The Pony Tails Group combines group therapy with equine activities to support emotional and social development.
 

Using a structured and clinically guided approach, this program focuses on:
 

  • Building confidence and self-awareness
     

  • Developing positive peer interactions
     

  • Learning responsibility, boundaries, and safety
     

  • Strengthening communication and cooperation
     

  • Supporting emotional regulation in a group setting

    Equine activities are used alongside group therapy to reinforce skills in a practical, engaging way.

Throughout This Program You Will Learn

  • Basic horse handling, care, and safety
     

  • Stable routines and expectations
     

  • How to work cooperatively within a group
     

  • Relationship-building skills
     

  • Confidence through responsibility and guided participation
     

  • Awareness of emotions and reactions during group activities

    Learning takes place through a combination of group discussion, equine activities, and therapist-guided reflection.

Who This Program Is For

  • In Grades 4–6
     

  • Who benefit from hands-on, experiential learning
     

  • Who may struggle with confidence, peer relationships, or emotional regulation
     

  • With anxiety, ADHD, or learning differences
     

  • Who respond well to structured routines and animal-assisted environments

Program Format

  • In-person equine-assisted group therapy
     

  • Clinician-led sessions paired with equine activities
     

  • Focus on safety, structure, and relationship-building
     

  • Group environment designed to be supportive and predictable
     

  • Program runs for 9 weeks

Thursdays, 4:30–6:00 pm
January 15 – March 12, 2026
